My goals for the next term
Building On A Solid Foundation
During Roy's term, the Port has reached historic milestones in transportation infrastructure and economic development. In his next term, Roy aims to build on this success to drive growth, create jobs, and ensure a prosperous future for Benton County.
With over 35 years in the nuclear energy industry, I bring real-world experience and a deep understanding of how to connect public and private partners to drive economic growth.
My focus is on building a strong future in:
-
Advanced Nuclear Energy (SMRs, fusion, micro-reactors)
-
Clean Fuels (hydrogen, biofuels, aviation fuels)
-
High-Value Agriculture & Manufacturing (fertilizers, value-added ag)
This means thousands of new jobs in engineering, skilled trades, manufacturing, and energy—all right here in our region.
⚙️ Grow Jobs in Advanced Nuclear and Clean Manufacturing

Over the past five years, the Port has modernized its financial systems, work order tracking, and adopted new GASB 87 accounting standards—bringing new levels of professionalism, transparency, and integrity. These improvements laid the groundwork for reducing the property tax burden on local residents.
To continue this progress, we must:
-
Finish updating 20+ year-old land leases to current, fair market rates.
-
Ensure fairness for all small businesses by applying consistent standards.
-
Hold tenants accountable for compliance with Port of Benton Minimum Standards, FAA Grant Assurances, safety codes, and state and local regulations.
By ensuring lease compliance and fair market practices, we can reduce the need for taxpayer subsidies and create a more level playing field for all businesses.
✅ Reduce Property Taxes Through Fair Lease Updates

For over two decades, the Port’s rail system suffered from neglect and deferred maintenance. In the last five years, I’ve led efforts to modernize the infrastructure and upgrade it to Class 1 railroad standards—a significant improvement that:
-
Reduces wait times at crossings
-
Improves safety for motorists and pedestrians
-
Supports more efficient freight movement for our local industries
We’re making real progress—and I will continue to advocate for safer, faster, and more reliable rail access throughout the region.
